A weaving cooperative

With COTURE, Nele and Ava launched a

sustainably produced and fairly traded design label, originated from and inspired by the brocade backstrap weaving techniques mastered by the women of the Co Tu hill tribe.

Sustainable produced. Fairly Traded.

A weaving cooperative

In the summer of 2012, Belgian textile designer Nele De Block reunites with Aldegonde van Alsenoy in Vietnam for a design intervention that took 8 days. The two have travelled from the coastline into the highlands near Laos border as part of their mission for the ILO and UN International Labour Organisation to work directly with the Co Tu Villages. From there, the duo was able to establish Co Tu Ya Ya cooperative by the end of 2013.
